don’t know why I didn’t just post the Kickstarter video, unlike last year’s informative video for the project, this year I just shouted unsolicited advice to strangers in soho and then put the grates’ “burn bridges” over the whole thing to make it less awkward

My new 2014 “Unsolicited Advice” weekly planner & journal is now available through Kickstarter — get a copy for just $15 (plus lots of other fun rewards) and we’ll take on the new year together!
My sister Danielle is my #1 supporter, and she has shared some of her pages from the 2013 edition of the Unsolicited Advice planner:
This planner is something I look forward to every year (since the first hand printed little blue one I got in 2012)! When I first got it, I thought it would be a really good idea to write down everything, and have a journal to look back on. Sadly this ended when school started and I actually needed to write down school things/not write down school things to have a valid excuse for panicking when assignments came up.
The coloring pages kept me awake in boring classes, and I’m looking forward to going back when I have more colors. I successfully forgot about the five dollar bill my planner reminded me to tuck away, and I found it again when I was really poor, so +3 clever points to my planner.
The best thing about this planner is that it’s entertaining! I want to open it because it makes me happy, and the quotes up top are creepily relevant sometimes.
The only downside I can think of is that it didn’t have a personal note from my brother written in on my birthday like my first planner did… *hint hint*
The pages she’s shared above include guest illustrations from (in order): Jeremy Sorese, Emo Diaz, Nick Iluzada, and Jessica Sea.
Recently an MCAD student sent over a questionnaire for a class assignment. It asked design professionals for advice to give to current students studying graphic design.
Having only recently graduated, I’m not in the best position of authority on this. I also know the feelings of disappointment…
Eric Hu is extremely fucking talented, and his real-world, no-bullshit advice is better than anything I’ve ever written here about similar subjects. I also like his perspective on exactly what a graphic designer is versus other related offshoots. Read this!
Whenever my life feels like a total mess, I overcompensate with too much drawing as a kind of security blanket. In my most recent stretch of Liz Phair drenched wallowing, I made this as reminder to myself that no matter what happens, it will always be best to shoot from the hip and give everything all that you’ve got, even if it absolutely breaks your heart when it doesn’t work out.
You can read the rest of it HERE (Its 50 pages total)

Katy Perry - Birthday
I can hardly wait until midnight tonight when the Lord or Somebody Else will place a wealth of knowledge and understanding into my brain, marking my 25th birthday and the official transition into proper adulthood! Round me up to 30, nbd.
Bonnie McKee - Sleepwalker
Boys Noize produced this and it definitely sounds like it. Also she kisses a girl and there are zombies, two things I don’t give a fuck about. But I really want Bonnie McKee to catch on, I think she deserves this second chance.
